450 sl charging problem

this car has a new alt. new battery no voltage drop and slowiy goes in the hole after idle for a few minutes even if you check voltage at the alt. it still is not putting out enough voltage I even put a higher amp alt. form 55 to 65 amp still no help just holds out a little longer before dropping

to be obvious

but have you checked all cable connections for corrosion? the ground strap at the body and the motor? look for damaged cables too. sometimes an auxiliary ground wire from the neg on bat to the starter bolt will do wonders.

also the wire to the alternator.
