S500 Brake Pad Sensor
Bought this car in January; 1996 S500 (W140) Coupe. Finally got around to changing the rear brake rotors today (they were pretty thin).
Anyway, when taking out the old brake pads on the rear, I noticed the passenger side rear brake has a brake sensor wire just like the front brakes... but, no sensor (or wire) on the driver's side rear. Is this right? I looked all around the caliper for the wire where it would connect on the driver's side, but zip. On the passenger side there is an electrical socket bolted to the caliper where the sensor plugs in, but nothing on the driver's side. Is the left (driver's) rear brake supposed to have a brake wear sensor? If so, where does the connecting wire run from? Thanks, KenP |

No sensor on the drivers rear wheel. This is normal. The right rear pad wears out first, especially with traction control. My '95 S-350 is the same way.

Thanks!
Much appreciate the response... initially thought somebody just didn't put the sensor back into place, but then I realized there was nothing to plug it into!
