Engine Rotation on C32 AMG?
 

Hey there guys!
I'm not a current mercedes owner or tech.
I need to know the rotation on the C32 AMG(CW or CCW) because I'm building a supercharger for my Honda civic .
this would help me determine if i can mount the supercharger in line with the belts or 180 degrees off with a jack shaft..
Any help would be appreciated.

When looking at the engine from the front, it rotates clockwise. Moss Performance makes kits to install essentially the same Eaton supercharger that MB uses, although I believe the one they use on Hondas are like in the SLK.

i figured it was clockwise,but i didnt know for sure.
not very many automobiles rotate engine counterclockwise like honda does.

BTW i'm using the lysholm screwcharger from a c32 amg for this buildup..
i've had terrible luck with the m62 and m90 for my civic so i want to try the screwcharger out.

This brings up an interesting trivia question. Is there ANY front engine, rear wheel drive car ever made that does NOT turn clockwise when facing the engine from the front?

has a straight 8, front engine, rear drive, of course, which rotates counter-clockwise. Just a few weeks ago he complained to me about overheating and I told him that he should check to make sure the timing wasn't retarded; it turned out that the classic car shop which had done a tune-up for him (he used to do all his own work but is now in his upper '70s) forgot about the reverse rotation and set the ignition at 8 degrees atdc.

Fiats of the '50s and early '60s used to sometimes have counterclockwise rotation on rear engine models, as did Corvairs, which meant that those who wanted to stuff Corvair 6's into VW chassis had to swap around the VW ring and pinion to avoid having 4 speeds reverse and one forward.

i am a honda master tech,but dont have much exposure to the domestic or other imports
i like this forum. you guys are pretty laid back and not too critical of others

Is it true that all engine run anticlockwise in the southern hemisphere?

Just stay out of the performance paddock and you won't catch any flack. If honda gets out, you will probably get a lot of crap.

Some old internationals would turn ccw, while others of a year different or different displacement would be clockwise. Seemingly no rhyme or reason to it. I know a guy who built and then swapped an engine only to find 3 reverse gears and 1 forward( but it went like a bat outa hell backwards)!
