Speedometer died today
Hey all,
My 92 300D 2.5 Turbo's speedo and odo died this afternoon. Tach, oil, temp, clock, etc all work fine. I did a lot of searching on the board and I suspect it's the cable or at the transmission. The cable isn't noisy now nor were they any noises before it all stopped working--so I'm guessing it's not a problem in the cluster. I don't have a lift, so I can't really stick a q-tip in the connection on the tranny to test the gears there. If I just hand spin the cable from the tranny end that should tell me if the cable and cluster is working, right? If it does, it sounds like it's the tranny gears..... Thanks for some reinforcement before I dive in.... -m PS: Checked fuses and replaced just for the heck of it as well...
