Whats the major difference between the two?

Original parts carry the mercedes star on them,they are usually better quality, and the fit on the original parts is always better. Aftermarket parts are less costly, may require a little modification for a perfect and are not usually made in germany(mostly Italy).

It's unlikely that after-market parts meet MB crash test criteria either.
