Hi. Would be really grateful for your help please. When it rains, the carpet in the rear luggage compartment on my 280 TE (1983) gets really wet. The carpet beside where the rear (3rd row) seats folds down gets wet, and so does the right hand side rear wheel arch. Any ideas please? Would be really grateful, and many thanks.

Another possibility is the black rubber grommet around the gas fill pipe and the hose that is connected to the bottom drain hole in the gas fill Area. That hose runs throught the trunk, behind the right rear wheel well and then to the ground. That hose could be disconnected or leaking.
I know, my grommet lost its elasticity and gas leaked into the trunk. ------------------ '89 420 SEL '90 300 SEL '84 300 SD (sold it) |
Thanks very much for your help with this. God bless you. Richard

In short, likely candidates for the problem probably include (in no specific order), seals around taillights, trunk seal, rear window seal (notorius for leaking). Good luck- Terry

|
Thanks. I will definitely check this. God bless. Richard
