Bosch Xenon HID Lights???
Anyone know about the Bosch Xenon lights for C220 - C36 93-00? I have gotten a quote from Bekkers but they are unable to get me a picture of the lights or tell me any technical details like the output and if they have high/low and fog lights. They said I would not need to have them focused or adjusted after installing. Does that sound right? They said there are no changes in wiring and its lights/enclosures (glass front) and transformers. Its "plug and play" I'm a little weary as it sounds too good to be true. Also Performance Products price is above $2000 how is Bekkers selling it for under $900 (gave me a $100 discount because I ordered Bosch clear blinkers a couple months back). Comments, concerns please?
Thanks, Brad

Find out if Bekkers wants to sell you the LOW BEAM ONLY HID retrofit and if so, your best bet would be www.HIDS4Less.com, speak to Mike Chavez there and tell him that I (Sisco Matos form the 190 forum) sent you, your shipped price will be $499. These are beam-pattern corrected and are strictly plug & Play. I put them on my 190E with Euro Headlight assemblies (H4 bulb) and it took me less then 15 minutes after I opened the package. Make sure you ask for Philips bulbs, as I believe I was sold Osrams...all of their ballasts are philips, so that's not a problem.
P.S. Hella does not make their own ballasts, they are made by philips. |

To make this as helpful as possible to anyone looking towards an upgrade to Xenon headlights in a W202 I'll explain my process. I ordered the Xenon HID kit from Bekkers; it comes with clear corners, headlight housings and of course the lights. It is supposed to be plug and play. I guess what they mean to say are you don’t have to run new wiring. I'll just say right off the bat this isn’t a simple unplug the old, plug in the new. On any model 93-00 you will need to take the mud wall off from the wheel well (possibly tire also) on the left side of the car to mount the ballast in the OEM place which is mounted to the frame which you will need to drill a whole into. The other Ballast needs to be mounted to the frame under the horn which will be easiest to do with the front bumper off. After mounting the Ballasts you have the hard part done. If you have a pre 97 model you will need to order 4 pieces. Left and Right side headlight trim and left and right side updated rubber for the trim. These pieces of trim will need to be painted, which you can have done at your local body shop. After getting that done make sure you have the converters for the lights as the old connection is 4 prongs and the new is 5 prongs. If you have that disconnect the battery and change the 7.5amp fuses to 15amp fuses for the headlights. After that start putting in the new lights. Reconnect the battery and start the car....test the lights! Also, don’t forget that when you disconnect the battery you will need the Radio Code so that your radio will work again.
Thanks, Brad PS. At Benzsport.com the discussion, pictures and help are under "Bekkers Xenon Install" in the Electronic Upgrades section. Thanks, Brad

Yes the beam is real Xenon, real balasts. Not 10K though, I belive the OEM speck is 4700K for the white light, 6000k for blue and 8000K for purpleish. The OEM kits come with 4700K and are Bosch kits. If you want the in depth details let me know. I will say its worth it though, the lights a sweet and the warm up look awsome!
