I posted this on the vintage board and received no responses. Perhaps someone here has had some information to share.
Does anyone have experience with air conditioning in a W113 (230/250/280SL)? I am I using my 230SL as a mostly daily driver and I was wondering if it was worthwhile to add AC for the summer. I am referring to the unit carried by Bud's and the other speciality parts houses. Jim Villers, 1967 230SL, 1961 190SL |

I'm not sure what Bud's is selling, but I would recommend using a Zeltec or Sanden compressor.
My partner has a 280SL (1971) and he has had a fair amount of problems keeping the engine temp down. He had to have a special radiator made with a thicker core and an electric auxiliary fan. It was quite a job mounting it as there is very little space. ------------------ Steve Brotherton Owner 24 bay BSC Bosch Master, ASE master L1 26 years MB technician |
