1993 300E tranny
As a new owner of a used 1993 300E 3.2with 100k miles, it appears that the shifting is sligtly rough, compared to other cars i've driven in the past, is this normal?

Hey Juan,
My 300E has a very firm shift - all of my MBs have been like this. Compared to some American cars I've driven the MBs have a very solid shift - I wouldn't call it rough but it is certainly more noticeable than other cars. If yours is slipping or shifting late/early, that would be a problem but if it is merely a solid shift, it is probably ok...

I'll keep that in mind, thanks Chris. It is like you describe a solid shift.

Congratulations on your new car. You may want to check and see when it last had its transmission service. It might need one. Additionally be sure and simply check the ATF level when the fluid is warm (typically after about ten minutes of driving). The level should be between the two marks. Enjoy your drive, Haasman

Thanks for the reply's; Suginami; being that you have the same car; what service should be done to it at 100k Miles. Last service shown on the book was 90K, I changed the oil and filter last weekend but just wandering if I am missing something important.
The car is pretty nice and I bought it from a frien that was the original owner. MB dealer has serviced it up to 90k.

Mercedes has no service required at 100,000 miles.
Do you have the maintenance booklet? If not, I recommend buying one at the dealer. Just know that all the maintenance on MB's is carried out in mileage, except for two items, which are carried out in time: 1. Brake Fluid - Flush and refill brake fluid every two years. 2. Radiator Fluid - Flush and refill radiator fluid every three years. Also MB fluid is a yellow-ish color, not green. It has a different chemical make-up than regular green "prestone-style" fluid, which you shouldn't use. It is only slightly more expensive that regular fluid anyway. 7,500 MILE SERVICE (Also due at 22,500 / 37,500 / 52,000 miles) Change Engine Oil and Filter. I don't have the CD or service manual, but when you say "seatbelt light", do you mean the SRS light?
If so, it is usually the switch in the seatbelt latch (either side), or the contact ring in the steering wheel. This site has a huge archive. You can spend hours and hours researching your problems with the search function (if you have the time and the patience).

Thanks Suginami for the info. It's the best car I've own so far.
Do you have an owners manual or CD's, My seat belt lights stay on all the time. Maybe you can research if you have the time and cd's.

Is that waht you refer to as the SRS light?

Nope, not the light I am referring to.
I have to admit that I never look at the lights overhead, so I'm not sure which light it is.
