'88 420 SEL door job rod that keeps the door from flying open borke (left rear door) Shops wants about two hours shop time to replace the part. does this seem right? Is this a possible do it your self job - or are there special tools required to pull door panel off?

the door jamb strap is a simple job to dys
no special tools are needed take the door panel off very gently disconet wiring for the door light the rest of the job is common sense .

Door strap should cost around $15.00 or so (that's about what a 190E strap costs). The Mercedes Shop should carry it; if not Performance Products (IMPCO) should have it.
