Headlight Frames 86 S Class

What hold the headlight frames in on an my 300SDL? The one clip is obvious but where are the other(s)

Two clips across the top and two more at the bottom. Usually with aging plastic the clips break off. Only remedy is a new door or a good used one from the boneyard. Problem with boneyards is you will find all kinds of right side headlight doors but left side headlight doors are few and far between. Seems most of the wrecks are driver's side front impact.

Maybe I am going blind

Looked again Mike on y 300SDL their is one large clip on the grill side (inside) on the headlight frames, and what appears to be "pegs" on the other side top - but I am not seeing any other clips on bottom:confused:

Unless the have broken off, they should be there. They are very hard to see with the fill panel under the lights in place. To see them with the fill panel in place you have to get your head up in there from behind, and the easiest way to get the fill panel out is by removing the side marker lights (give access to the 8mm [or 6mm] bolt at the fender joint).

I replaced mine a few months ago, and although I do not remember the number of clips and their location, I do remember taking off the corner light so I could get to "something". I also remember laying on the ground and peering upwards.

I think it took me about 10 minutes per side.

Good luck!
