What should I use 86 560 SL.I did a search but there were no matches. Steve

Dear Steve:

Just go to a auto parts store and buy 2 quarts of POWER STEERING FLUID (any brand is just fine). 1 quart is for flushing out the old fluid and 1 quart is for fill up.

Do not use ATF fluid in your power steering system.

Lucas oils makes a power steering fluid leak and seal re-conditioner.. its about 7 bux a pint but i have used it in all three of my turbo diesels . It reconditoins the pump and seals and can be used in conjunction with your power steering fluid..

I use the Febi stuff available form FastLane. ~$8.50 a liter.

The Febi stuff was designed for engines with serpentine belts..ie..M103/M104.

I'd bet a buck you could use it in the 380/420-500/560 V8 cars.

I wonder if plain-jane PS would likewise work in the M103/M104.

This fluid stuff gets confusing.

I think I'll go outside and replace my R-12 with Freeze-12 and my MB coolant with Prestone.

Do not try to use any Lucas products. I have read several demonstrations in which Lucas stuff was shown to cause your oil (differential gear oil, engine oil, transmission oil etc....) to foam and have trapped air, which very much destroys the lubrication properties.

Stay away from these products. If you want to help recondition PS seals, just use the brand name ones such as Prestone or Maxlife ($2->$3 / quart)

Do not waste your money for no-name stuff.
