Trick To Installing Brankes And Rotors?

How hard to install brakes and rotors F & R on a 94' S500? What to watch out for?

Thanks!

The information you're asking for is too broad to fit in a simple reply. You'd do yourself a favor by getting some kind of written illustrated information (Mercedes CD manual, Chilton, Haynes), then we can help you with any fine points of the process. There are many issues to cover -- antisqueal paste, brake fluid, bleeding, rotors, etc.

There is some information on this site which may help:

E-class brake job

How difficult this job is depends on your comfort level working with cars. No special tools are needed outside of a regular automotive tool set. Have you done brakes before?

Thanks for the kind reply. Yes, I have done brakes before and several on BMW. Tell me where I might locate a Mercedes CD you spoke about. Do you have to bleed when replacing pads and rotors?

Thanks!

I believe Mercedes has a CD manual that costs over $100. You can find copies that are probably bootlegged on eBay for about $10.

You don't have to bleed brakes when replacing pads and rotos, but it is highly recommended (every two years) and well worth the effort.

I would guess the W140 chassis (yours) has similar brakes to the W126 (mine) - looking here may help.

I cannot open http://www.pindelski.com/cars/W126/W126_brake_job/W126_brake_job.html.

Is it me just me?

if i can do it......

it's actually not hard at all.read the diy section above a couple of times before you start out.make sure you take off the m.cyl cap before you start and put a rag around the top to catch any fluid that spills out.since you're replacing everything , pry the pistons back while the old pads are still on, take out old pads and then move onto rotors and leave new pads 'til last.be careful with pad sensor wires-be firm but carefull.have you changed your fluid in the last 2-3 yrs?good luck!

actually, i just read the diy section myself and all i can say is follow it to the letter and you shouldn't have any problems

http://www.pindelski.com/cars/W126/W126_brake_job/W126_brake_job.html should work.

Do you have java script 'on' in your browser?

Thank you very much Thomaspin! Worked perfect that time! Should the job be more like the 126 body or the "C" class?
