engine and trans removal

Hi,

I am getting ready to take the engine out of my 88 190e 2.3. But I see I need to take it out with the trans attached. Does anyone know what needs to be removed in order for the trans to come free of the vehicle?

The speedo cable, mounts and gear shifter i assume? Also, how does one go about separating the gear shift from the transmission anyway?
