Installed new AC compressor, receiver/dryer, belt, etc., on recently acquired 81 300D yesterday; cooling very nicely now!! I was worried that we would find other problems with the system, but so far, all is well. With only 84 horespower, I can really notice the loss of power when the compressor is on! BTW, how much power does the compressor use? Years ago on the 240D, I would sometimes reach over and punch the compressor off when I was trying to accelerate on passing, etc.

They estimate about 5 hp on the old York style compressors.

Thanks. This one is an R4. Power loss is certainly enough for me to feel it - probably 5 - 6 HP, or so. 'Sure makes the 350SDL feel even better!!
