it has been a month and 1500 miles since i bought my 91 560sel. I notice that my oil level on the dipstick is at about a little over half way between the min and max marks.
is this normal for a 560sel that has 123,000 miles on it? How many quarts of oil would one need to fill from min to max on the dipstick?

It is about 1 to 1.5 quarts. The normal consumption is about 1 quart per 1500 miles.
