need NY Metro help for 722.6 problem
 

trying to help out a buddy with a 97 e420 currently in limp home mode won't shift out of 2nd. check engine electronics light on. dealer reset cee but came back after a few seconds. indy replaced shifter assy - worked for 2 days then same problem.

i recall someone mentioning temp sensor as a possible culprit but can' t find post. dealership wants to replace tranny - indy gave up after shifter assy replacement.

anybody out ther know of a dealership / indy that can check it out properly?

What were the fault codes the dealer found?

ahhh, it seems that it's a closely guarded secret that neither dealership nor indy would not divulge. allegedly it indicated a faulty shifter mechanism.

will try one last time to get that information...
