When ever I have passengers in the rear or a full load and I try to accelerate or apply torque such as climbing an incline there is a shudder like a bad u-joint in the rear end. Any opinions would be appreciated. My mechanic says there are no u-joints.

You have one u joint in the center of the driveshaft with the center support bearing. The bearing is on its way out along with the support more than likely.
