Pulled 4 different codes for my mercedes...but what does it mean?

13 Intake air temp signal

16 EGR

17 Oxygen sensor signal

29 Difference in coolant temps between CIS-E unit and EZL unit



As you can see I pulled codes 13,16,17,29

For number 13, does that mean I need to replace the air temp sensor?


For 16, does that mean replace the EGR? or is there something else I should be looking at?

For 17, bad O2 sensor? Do I just need to replace it?

For 29 which sensors do I need to replace for the coolent temp?

I am not an authority on the subject of codes but since no one else has yet replied I'll say that you may not have to replace any of the sensors involved with the error codes. They are simply telling you that something is wrong and whatever that something is, is causing an error at their location. Did you do anything recently to the car that might set off such a string of codes?

Almost sounds like you blew a fuse to a harness or something.

Well for the EGR I am going to ream out the tube, and see if it is clogged...

and for the 02 one, I am going to do the mustang o2 swap that i read about.

Clear them all and see what comes back..
also, clean the connections on the temp sensors....

The IAT sensor works in conjunction with others(sensors) to determine A/F ratios, the O2 monitors oxygen in the exhaust stream and also helps to correct A/F,so these are related in purpose and share circuitry.

The EGR valve also gets feedback from the O2 sensor via the ECM that tells it how much O2 is in the exhaust stream and helps determine when to open and close.

I am not familiar with the temp sensor diff sensor for CIS and EZL, except the CIS is, as we know, the injection system, and EZL is part of the ignition system.

So we see that all of these codes are related to sensors that monitor A/F and programed parameters for engine temperature.

One would suggest checking each of these sensors individually and see what results are found, theorectically, one bad sensor may have caused the others to operate out of range and thus set a code.
