Dealer item is of course ok. The following are OEM quality:

Mann

Mahle-Knecht

Hengst

Bosch also makes an air filter. Have never used so I can't say.

I use Wix (about $12) works fine, replace every 10m miles, save money, No different than m/b or others. Abe G

I noticed the name 'Knecht' on the mouthpiece of the filterhousing.

I have bought a number filters that came in the MB OEM box and Knecht or Hengst was the brand in the box. The air filter housing in both of my TDs say MANN and then a part number for the filter.

Regarding K&N filters, do a search. My guess it is probably the most debated topic after oils and tires.

Some people like them and feel theres an improvement, others believe they don't deliver what they promise.

Search and type in K&N.
