When starting the car the wipers take one swip across the windshield. I can also produce this phenomenon by adjusting the right side mirror. Thanks !!

It is a 1983, and Chilton wiring diagrams are the best I have. Also, down on the mirror button is the only way to make the wipers go on. Thanks again !!!!

Thanks for the additional information. I quickly looked at a ETM today but it was for a newer model than yours. (1986 ETM)The only think that I see that these circuits share is the ground point W1. You problem sounds very unusual and could be caused by a bad ground. W1 is located behind the Inst. Cluster. If this ground is good The next step to to check each of this circiuts completly. You will need a OEM ETM and a good multimeter for this.
Good Luck

dab,

I had a similar problem with my daughter's 300D. The problem went away when I replaced the ignition switch.

Good luck,

Thank you, as a matter of fact the ignition switch is not operating correctly.
