I have a 75 280c, and probably this is going to be a dumb question, but, How many speeds is this car supposed to have?

Thx
109k miles

It has a 4spd transmission although it probably starts off in 2nd gear.

Thx for the info Steve, the problem that I have is that when i reach 75 m/hrs the car starts to vibrate and it feels like the engine is not switching to the next speed/gear, from 0-75m/hr I can clearly feel only 2 changes, which means that the last speed should be the 3rd. I just got 4 new tires on it, balanced them twice cause I thought that balance was the problem.
WHAT CAN I DO?

What does your tachometer read at 75 per? You should only feel 2 changes if you are starting in 2nd. 2nd to 3rd (first change) and 3rd to 4th (second change).

I would suspect a driveshaft vibration possibly made worse by a bad trans mount.

Check your flex discs for cracking/loose bolts. Check the center support to see that the flexible rubber mount is intact. Look at the u-joint for rust or looseness.

Also look at your drive axles for verticle play. This is a judgement call so your should see a professional probably.
