How do you take the starter off my 1980 300SD? Can you test it while on the car?

I need to take it off, but I don't see how it would fit down through the steering mechanisms, etc. How do you get it out? Any help would be appreciated.

You have to have a few specail tools to do this. (allen socket set)

You can turn the steering wheel just right to get it out.
