My '85 Euro 280se (m110.989 / 5spd) got really hot yesterday. Before it got into the red I shut the engine off and let it sit for awhile. Water was spraying out from the water pump snout so I assume it is DOA. Is this a considered a long or short pump???

You will have to replace the pump. I don't know which one you have. Your parts connection will have to determine that.

Thanks Benzmac,
I am waiting for Mercedes Shop to reply to my parts request. |
The European 110 engines had a different style fan clutch and if you have this you will need a special pump. Either that or a US style fan clutch and a US pump.
I think the pump was a long 4 hole on 126 cars but the Euro pump has a two inch snout that the Euro fan clutch goes over. ------------------ Steve Brotherton Owner 24 bay BSC Bosch Master, ASE master L1 26 years MB technician [This message has been edited by stevebfl (edited 05-02-2000).] |
