Not Tech Question, 124 Driving Position, Can't See Instrument Cluster

What am I doing wrong? I don't drive the 124 too much so I've never bothered to figure this out... I'm hoping someone has a trick.

The seat is comfortable and I can adjust it to the perfect position for me with one major exception... I can't see the top half of the instrument cluster. In order to see the fuel gauge and the top half of the speedometer and tachometer, I have scrunch down in a very uncomfortable and unsafe way.

I'm 6 feet tall with longish legs. I set the seat like I do in the C230. As far as I can tell, the steering wheel itself does not adjust. I set the seat cushion down as low as it will go, the back cushion fairly upright, and the whole seat about halfway back on its track. The seat is really comfortable and I've got plenty of head and leg room. My problem is the steering wheel obstructs my view.

The only way I've found to see the whole cluster is to recline the back cushion quite a bit, and I don't like to recline that much.

Any ideas?

Your steering wheel telescopes in and out from a button on the left underside of the steering column. Try that.

I've noticed that too, though not as badly as you mention. My car's not here right now so I can't check it.

You could always install one of these...

Thanks, but unless I'm really loosing it, the wheel does not move in a telescope manner. There's no button. The owner's manual describes a switch that moves the wheel in and out, but mine does not have it. Any ideas?

Frankly, it's not my car and I don't care too much. My wife thinks thw whole set up fits well, and she can see all the guages.

It's almost like there should a a one inch spacer pusing the wheel farther out, on the same angle, toward the driver.

That's exactly what the adjustment does... I thought all E's had one, but maybe not?

Look just below your turn signal.
