Hit & Run - replacement part advice. (serenity now)

Well, it just happened to me. Well, to my 95 C220. Some f***ing jerk thought it'd be real funny to scrape into the passenger side of my front bumper, scrap the whole passenger side, crack the upper piece, dent the chrome, make the whole thing hang loose, and driving away. And no, I wasn't lucky enough to get his information.

After reaching a level of *relative* calm (believe me, I'm still boiling inside that some lowlife f***er would hit and run), it occurs to me that I need to figure out what to do regarding repair.

The issue:

The previous owner had a Brabus (or Lorinser) spoiler installed on the car. I like that a lot. I think that it is integrated into the bumper cover, but not the underlying bumper structure, which may be the cracked upper portion.

I have the feeling that my insurance company will want it all replaced with factory parts. Even if the insurance company were so generous as to buy a new Brabus part (doubtful), I don't think they are made anymore.

I figure that since I've filed an accident report, the resale value fo the car has just gone to the ****ter, so I'd rather have a car that makes me happy, which is the way it looked before.

So my question is, for those of you who might have access to more detailed body part information: Is the front bumper on the 95 C220 a two piece affair? I know that it is on the rear, comprised of a bumper shell that is largely structural except for the molding/top portion and a "cover" that is the main visible part of the bumper.

If it is a two piece system, I might see if the repair shop can strip the old Brabus piece, refinish it up, replace the underlying bumper piece, and get it to look like it should.

Or is this too damn much trouble and should I just get the bumper to look stock again?

Thanks for reading my rant,

Eric
