SEL 600 help

Hi,
I have enquired in the UK equivalent site for information but never ever got a reply, maybe you guys can help.
On my SEL 600 it shows no oil pressure and I was told it is the sender unit. Before i spend ages looking for it can anyone tell me where it is on the motor. I also have smoke and oil burning smell from the left rear of the engine bay, is this the rocker cover gasket or could it be because there is slightly too much oil in the engine. I just bought the car so assume the last owner saw the no oil pressure and assumed no oil so put more in.

SEL600

Hi

The previous owner more than likely sold the car before investing in the oil leak repairs at the Valve Covers. Expect to cough up some sizable coins to address it if they are leaking.

The oil sending unit is located on the oil filter housing, and that is located on the front driver’s side of the engine. At the moment I am unable to recall the access to the sending unit but I believe it is relatively straight forward. You may need a crows-foot wrench to replace it and you want to replace the unit while the car is on a lift.

Good luck!

Thanks for the help. This is more than I got from UK Merc and very much appreciated.
