1999 E320 Front Door Panel Removal Side Air Bag

I need to take the front door panel off to replace a power window switch. Do I need to disconnect the side air bag? Anything to watch out for? Thanks in advance Bill Rodgers.

Not to be smartee pantz, but the window switches for the front windows are on the center console next to the shift module.
Are you going after something else?

Hm, it's been a while since I've done this. First, unscrew the door lock knob, next, remove the trim plate around the door latch. If your car has a plastic "SRS" badge on the panel, pop it off and remove the screw behind it. Pry out the puddle light from the bottom, and disconnect. The trim around the handle just pries right off. Under the grab handle there's a cap which conceals a screw, so remove that and the screw. After this you should be able to remove the panel, but remember that it pulls outward, not upward like earlier models. Once you have it mostly off, you can unplug the door handle release cable and the wiring for the power seats.

The switch panel for the power seats does not need to removed prior to removal of the actual door panel.

Speedy or anyone,

Now that you mention this, can the switch panel be removed without taking the door panel off? Thanks in advance, Bill

I wouldn't recommend trying to remove the seat switch from the door panel without removing the panel. You could ruin the clips that hold the wood trim to the panel.
