Smile cruise control problems on a 85 500SEL

Hello all, I am having a problem with my 1985 500 SEL gray market, the cruise amp went bad so i ordered a new one from mercedes and it has a coding reley in the bottom of the unit, ok so it will not work at all, wont set or accelerate it is just as if it is not pluged in under the dash, i have another amp that has a problem with keeping up speed and it will work in the car so i dont think i have any trouble in the car, i even ordered a second amp from mercedes and it wont work either. My question is is there a difference in the amps or do i need to change some wiring in my car to make the new amp work??

I hope someone can help me figure out this problem..

Thanks

Rob...
