W140 Workshop manual
 

Looking for recomendations as to workshop manual choices. MB may have CD available in month, but it sounds like those are a waste of time.

I've had the same problem... there isn't much info out there on the W140 service procedures. Can't speak to previous MB CD's because I've not actually worked with one.
I find this forum to be a tremendous help... lots of knowledge here. Also, have found the ALLDATA subscription service to be very good... although it requires some familiarity with the car and isn't particularly "user friendly" for navigating around. When I first started using it, I was pretty dissatisfied, but its helped me on a number of occasions... so, I'd have to rate it "very good" overall.
Probably the two most important things to me have been electrical schematics and part locator functions. The way stuff is spread all over the car, you won't be able to find many problems without them... you can find both of these at ALLDATA.

I think MB offers an on-line service website, but its pretty expensive.

If anybody sees the MB W140 service CD come out, please post and let us know its out.

I checked this Mitchell CD out and it has lot of info and I also compared it to the MB CD for teh 124 chassis.

MB CD is a waste of time? Your opinion or someone else's?

Where did you hear that the W140 manual will be available soon?

For my 95 S420, I toggle between an alldata.com subscription and the W124 CD manual set for the M119 (400E/E420). alldata provides clearer step-by-step instructions but navigation is a nightmare, line drawings are inadequate, wiring diagrams are arbitrarily cut into separate sheets and there are no special tool workarounds like Haynes manuals offer.

MB Customer service rep mentioned CD to be released. She did indicated that it contained no "how to" info and that they were non returnable. I did not see a manual on Haynes website. I would settle for that at this point.

it will be interesting to see what they put in the CD. All the previous CDs were a collection of print manuals. There never was such a thing for the 140 chassis. All the info systems I have in print are by systems not car type.

The MB tech site www.startekinfo.com costs $20 a day. If one were industrious one could get most of the important info like wiring diagrams and system information during that time.
