switching trannys 1970 250C to 1967 250S ?
Howdy
Ok I have a 1970 250C and it needs a tranny. I came across a 1967 250S tranny that is stick. My car was automatic. Will this tranny fit? How do I convert mine to a stick. THanks Just got the 1967 250S home. If anyoone needs any parts off it let me know. Engine and tranny are gone. Thanks |
You will need a different driveshaft, the correct speedo gear, the clutch pedal and master cylinder, a manual tranny flywheel balance matched the the auto flywheel (see other posts on balancing, it's complicated), and a gearshift cover. Hole for the shifter (floor shift) is already there.
You could also fix up the column shift if you wanted, but I don't know why. I could use the wood trim at the top of the front passenger door, I'm missing that bit. Peter |
Hi what wood part did you need for your benz?? I think I have pretty much all the wood trim. I'll take a pic and post later.

Jennifer:
The top piece on the front passenger door, with screws. There are three parts, I only need the top one. Thanks! Peter |
I don't think the 250S trans will fit in the 250C - the 114 body needs the type with the shift levers on the side. The 250S' shift mechanism is on the top TTBOMK.
