Trunk lock

I have a 1980 280E and I can't open the trunk to get in there and fix the vacuum leak. I know the leak is coming from the trunk lock and need advice on how to open it. Can I go through the back seat, or should I just get a locksmith?

You can't go through the back seat, the fuel tank is behind the backrest.
