Hello,
My 1992 Mercedes 300E shifts harshly from 1st to 2nd gear. When the A/C is turned on the shifts are noticibly harsher. What would cause this problem. Thanks for any help you could provide. I am hoping for smooth driving in the hot weather! Zach

Your car should be starting off in 2nd gear. If you are starting off in 1st, then there is a problem with kickdown circuit or pressure regulator linkage. Otherwise, ther is something amiss in the valve body.
