engine change for 16 valve car to 6 cyl.
i have a 87 16 valve with a 5 speed can you or has anybody
put a 2.6 or 3.0 6 cylinder in one.let me know thanks |
What is wrong with the 16V engine?? With the 2.6 engine you will lose about 10 HP & the car wont handle near as well! Also you will need different radiator support, radiator, a/c condensor, aux fans & LOTS more!! Unless you have a donor car sitting there I wouldn't try that

Here's something else to consider. Early six cylinder 201s front end sheet metal is 3 mm longer than four-cylinder models. This was required to make the six fit.
The sheet metal was standardized to the longer version about '90 or '91 for all models. Bottom line: If you want a six you're better off selling your 16V and buying a 2.6. Duke |
It will fit!
A member on this forum named Bart has a 16 Valve that he installed a 3.0 M103 engine into. He also used the 300E Tranny. |
