W201 low fuel light. How much left?

I consistently need to top off 44 litres when I get to the low fuel light (mileage would have been anywhere between 450km to 480km).

My Haynes manual says that my fuel tank is 60 litres.

That would mean that I have approx. 16 litres left in the tank when the low fuel light comes on.

And since my fuel mileage is about 10km+/litre, so at worse, I am looking at another 150km or so to go before it gets empty?

All you W201 owners care to chime in for comparison?

Cheers.

The tank capacity of all my 190E's was 55 litres. The light would come on when the fuel remaining was 7 litres.

That was true for the 2.3's and the 2.6. I can't for the life of me remember the 2.3-16V, but it should have been the same.

In my w124 300E I have 8-9 litres left in my 70 litres tank when the light comes on.

US 201 tanks are speced at approximately 55 liters or 14.5 gallons of which 7 liters (1.8 gallons) is reserve. Just after my fuel warning light illuminates (about the time the guage hits the "E" mark) my car will take about 12.5-12.7 gallons (47.3 - 48.0 liters), and I recall servicing with a maximum of 13.2 gallons.

The light may be intermittent for a few miles before it finally stays illuminated. The fuel capacity on US spec cars may be less than in other markets, due to the "vapor dome" that is required for the US evaporative emissions control system.

I remembered wrong!

It's 55 litres.

Light comes on at abt 44 litres, so that's like approx 100km (11 litres) to go before empty.

Good to know.

Thanks guys.:D
