2003 E-320 Headlight Adjustment
 

Since purchasing my E320 in March, I've had it in to two different dealers for headlamp adjustment. At first the low beams were too low, and after the first trip to Walter's MB, they were still too low. The next trip was to Penske, and now the low beams are okay, but the high beams are up in the trees.

My car has the standard headlights, not High Intensity. I have adjusted the headlights on several of my cars previously, and I'm confident I can do these, but don't know the location of the adjustment screws. Can someone help me out on this?

This should be fixed under warranty. From the factory, the headlights should be aimed perfectly.

i concur they should be aimed perfect from the factory.

if you're hitting the trees, they MAY be too high.

you can still use this procedure to aim your lights. 2.1" at 25' below center mark is correct for u.s.spec

On these free-form headlights, it's important to have the right equipment for the job. Most places won't dedicate a level stall for the job to be done, which you'd almost have to have to do it on the wall. What most manufacturers recommend is an optical aiming tool, looks like a box with a lense on the front which the headlight beam shines through, uses some type of Fresnel Lens to imitate a wall at a far distance. It would be interesting to find out what process has been used to align the lights. I don't think MB actually forces a dealer to buy this equipment.
