serpentine belt & a/c compressor
 

Help! I just replaced my serpentine belt along with the tensioner and the pulley last week. this week, my belt broke again, and i'm told this time that the problem is the a/c compressor which locked up and broke the belt.

What are the chances of both those items going bad at the same time?

also--when i turn on the windshield washers, several of the warning lights flash, the gas gauge drops to 0, the oil pressure guage drops to 0, and the mpg drops to 0, then flashes back to normal, while the seat belt light flashes at me for a second or two.

does this mean the blinker switch is going out, or is it a more ominous problem??

sorry, its a '92 600 sel.

now a mechanic is telling me that its not the ac compressor that is out, but is the smog pump. my ac has been making funny noises for the last month, so that made sense, but now i'm really confused.

this man tells me that the a/c compressor is on the driver's side & the smog pump is on the passenger side, which is where the wobbly pulley wheel was.....
