How do you remove/replace the shift knob on a 1998 S500? I know on our old '92 400E, you had to replace the knob and the shift arm..

On the 1996 & later cars the trim ring at the base of the shift knob will rotate counter clock-wise & allow you to PULL the knob up/off.
