A friend of mine just got a SL500 and wants to disable the airbags. Is there a simple and non-destructive way to disable the air bags on this car? We would like to do it in way that it can be un-done at a later time and also not to disable the SRS on the seatbelts.
His wife is very small in size and she is afraid of the air deploying in a crash and hurting her. I'm not a big fan of disabling the bags, but in this case I can understand. Thanks ------------------ 1990 300CE-24 1995 Jeep Wrangler 1995 Ford Thunderbird |

My opinion would be for him to use the seat adjuster to raise the seat to its highest point. If she can see to drive the car (over the hood), the bag should be safe. If you disable the bags by unplugging them, the light on the cluster will stay on, but the ETR's for the seat belts will work.
