Timing chain + guides replace; Question ???
 

1989 190e-2.6; 170K miles

I'm going to replace the timing chain and guides.

When I get the upper and lower halves of the timing covers removed will I be able to "fish" the new chain around the crank gear without turning the engine ?

I guess it's the same question; Will the old chain (after openning) slip around the crank gear ?

I don't really like the idea of turning the engine, all though I would start at TDC and all line up all "marks" to be safe.
