Anyone tried code reader INNOVA 3100?
 

Wife's 98 C280 has the check engine lite on and off several times for the past several month. I think it was the gas cap thing. But this time it stays lit for couple weeks. Car drives fine. I bought the code reader from Kragen for $99 plus tax. Connected to the car and it went through the reading sequence as stated in the manual. No code is retrieved, yet the check engine lite is still on? :confused:

Got P0173, P0170
 

Tried again, got codes: P0173, P0170. Generic codes are for "Fuel trim malfunction for Bank1 and bank 2". Is the MAF acting up?

i too have a PO170 and PO173 DTC. Does anyone know if it is related to a faulty MAF ?

Those 2 codes are making reference to either a rich condition or lean condition that is beyond the adjustable limits of the ECU. If you look them up the areas to check are:

1. Intake leak
2. Fuel press. regulator
3. Injectors

It doesn't make any reference to a faulty MAF, that would be a separate code.
