1998 ML 320 brake pads

I am getting ready to replace my front and rear brake pads. I have read how to do the front ones but nothing on the back. Is it the same procedure?

Also, there is a very small lip around the edge of the front rotor. Is this normal or do I need to replace them?

Any comment on using Mintex brake pads?
