I'm the new owner of a 94 SL320 ... I notice that putting the car in reverse, it will barely move unless you really hit the throttle, also seems a little sluggish in drive at first, although the motor pulls hard to redline and the car accelerates strongly. Is this just a Mercedes or SL characteristic? Reversing in a stately, dignified manner? I had a loaner Volvo today and it just rocketed backward with the slightest touch of throttle. (I have driven manual Porsches and BMWs for years, so excuse my ignorance.)
