Auto Gear Select Lighting Question
 

I have this question: In my 1995 E320 wagon, the gear selector lights up park, reverse, neutral, etc.---but all are the same color, at night you can see them all lit up, but nothing changes with the gear you are in. You sort of guess, and you can see approximately where you should be due to the shift gates, but is this how it is supposed to be or is there a light out?
