W126 headlight Question

On the 300SE's, are the headlights supposed to stay on when the key is turned off? If so, they I need to hook up some relays to do that.

My Volvo's headlights turn off when the car is off.

RE: Lights & Volvo

They stay on in my E320, guess they are supposed to. I have a Volvo 960 wagon--whats the 965? Never heard of it. Mine is for sale--nice car, better than 850 style.

HEADLIGHTS

On the 300se/sel and the 420sel, I know for a fact they do stay on after the key is turned off. You will have a buzzer if still working that will sound when the lights are left on and the driver's door is opened. My 420sel just barely makes the buzzing and I can't recall if my 300se still sounds or not. I am sure that all w126's are the same on that issue.

960 is the generic name, 964 would be the 4 door sedan and 965 would be the 5 door wagon. So you have a 965. If you were to have a 97 or 98, the S90 would be the sedan and the V90 would be the wagon.

I really like the Volvo feature where the lights go out if the key is off and removed from the lock.

Time to add some relays to the 300SE.

Thanks for the Volvo info--didn't know that. I had an old 76 Volvo "242" Never knew why it wasn't a 240!! Great car, ended it's life with ~300,000 on it, and it still ran fine, but the body was totally shot. I may wire a relay into the system so the lights have a delay before shutting off, like my junk Ford Explorer does.
