Engine Numbers

Does anyone have a cross reference to get the proper engine numbers for my car? I know it is an M103 942 12 engine, but When ordering parts, they ask for a 000038 or 000039 number. Where do I find this? BTW it is in an '89 W201 190E.

You find it on your engine... In this instance it's reasonably safe to assume that you are the later version.
