Okay, I've finished mulling over the past thread on euro lights, and have a few questions. Well, I just ordered DEPO's for my 300e and I plan on going with the slyvania silverstar H4's and H3's as I heard they are more appealing to look at. My question is what kind of bulb do I need for the city lights and how exactly do I hook them up, through the harness? I also got the empression that my parking light switch will now control the city lights, true? Do I need relays and a heavy duty harness for these lights w/ 50 watt regular bulbs? one thread said I did. My last question is where I can find just the harness and instructions for switching to eurolights, and maybe a site with the H4's and H3's for cheap? Wow! That's a lot of questions, sorry everybody.

The city light uses a 4 or 5 watt bulb, such as Jahn 4088 5W or Osram T4W. I have a web page or two here that shows how to wire them. Your city lights will be on when ever your front corners are on. I think there may be other ways to hook them up, if you have a non-USA car.

With the Bosch or Hella units, it is my understanding that you can use up to about 100 watt lights before needing relays and wiring. The stock wiring is absolutely adequate for the stock 55/60 watt H4s. I have no experience with the DEPO headlight units.

thanks a lot, dakota, that site is very helpful. I just got through talking to somebody that said the DEPO's can only be adjusted by vacuum, is this true? uh oh... I was trying to avoid the vacuum system.

Thats not true! The Depo's have three black knobs on the back of the headlights. They are used to correctly adjust the headlights. I should know, I have a set of Depo's in my car.

I can't imagine that DEPOs can ONLY be adjusted by vacuum.

Whether or not the DEPOs have the vacuum capability is a separate question that I can't answer. They surely can be adjusted without it.

The vacuum leveling option does not 'adjust' your lights in the normal sense. That is done by two set "screws" on each mainbeam headlamp (up-down, right-left), just like your current lights. After adjustment, the leveling system allows you to compensate the up-down aim of your beams for adding weight in the car (luggage, passengers) inside the cabin without having to change the set screws.

Why on earth would you want to avoid the vacuum system?

When that guy first told me I thought how could somebody make a headlight that could only be adjusted by vacuum? I guess he was wrong. I wonder where he got his info from. I'm trying to avoid the vacuum sytem because

a) don't want to deal with putting switch and lines in.
b) already went over what I deemed reasonable to spend on this car with euro's and bulbs.
c) daily commuter car that rarely sees more weight than me and my girlfriend
d) one more thing that can break

although it is a cool feature...

guess I'll have to mull this over a bit.
