Oil level in C230 sport sedan (2000)

My car C230 Kompressor (2000) The owners manual gives oil capacity with filter change at 6.l us qts. I changed oil and filter and after adding 5 qts checked it. 5!/2 qts brought it up to full on the dipstick. I don't want to overfill. Which is correct? Thanks
