W124 - how to raise hood to vertical?

Have looked through the archives, but I cannot figure out how to raise the hood on my 1991 300e to the vertical position. It is easy to find the tabs in the hinges on both sides of the car, but no matter which way I push or pull them nothing happens!

Sorry as this will probably seem super easy once I figure it out, but can someone lead me through this procedure?

Thanks in advance

Jay

i think (i have a CE, I assume they're the same) you pull the tabs inward from the top, but you probably have to lower the hood just a little. then of course they might just be stuck, try WD40. i always got one side then when i move to the other side, the other fell back in.

Open the hood. Push inward on the tab on the U.S. driver's side while taking pressure off of it by pulling the hood down slightly. Let the hood up and then go to the opposite side and push the tab inward while taking pressure off by pulling the hood down slightly. The hood can now be lifted.

Lift the hood up until it clicks. To lower the hood, push the tab inward on the driver's side while pushing the hood back slightly to relieve the pressure. Now you can lower the hood.

Got it!! Thanks for the tips - taking the pressure off by lowering the hood slightly was the key in my case.

Cheers

Jay
