Bought my 1993 190e 2.6 for $2800 last year with 96,xxx miles. Since then replaced tie rods and normal maintenance. Now have 116,xxx miles, and looking forward to another 10 years with this car. Love the classic lines, and love the price! Where else can you get a dependable car for that price!!

Sounds a hell of a deal!

I bought my 87 260E for $700 /w 83k on it...I am at ~86k now (odo is broken, so using a temporary working one right now) Excluding anything "modding-wise" such as sportline steering wheel etc...so far I have put about $800 into it and it runs great. With all my mods, I calculated I'm at $1800.
About to put 400E brakes and the AMG Gen I bodykit!

1993 400 SEL

I paid $900.00 for my 400 SEL just last week. Previous owner could not get it to run after it sat for 4 months...Spark plug wires were all bad. Replaced all of them and she runs great, however I have a little hesitation on acceleration but I believe that the MAF is dirty so I will clean that in the next couple of days.

$850 for a 92 190e 2.6 manual with 166k miles and some body damage in the license plate area. It took some hammer work I replaced the tail lights and trunk lid. I've done three 1000 mile road trips in 3 months with it. Couldn't be happier.

I'm still on the hunt for a matching teal trunk lid.

Jumped in and bought what will be a "running" parts car (1988 420SEL) with the following attributes:

1). just passed Oregon DEQ so the engine management/exhaust system must be working correctly
2). the spare OEM alloy wheel/Michelin tire in the trunk looks to have never been on the ground
3). has the grey interior of the '91 & it is all there (seats would need new covers but this is a parts car and I don't anticipate driving it unless it would be to a body shop that was repairing the '88 or '91 GOD FORBID!)
4). Alpine 10 Disc CD changer with a separate head unit and remote control
5). new (in 2009) alternator, battery, brakes & (in 2010) belts, hoses, distributor cap & rotor, plug wires and 2 tires
6). the four re-chromed alloys have the two basically new tires and their chrome is actually in better condition than that on my current '88
7). body is super-straight, no indication of any rust that I can find, dark blue paint is faded or the clearcoat is going...
8). power windows and sunroof all work, windshield is CRACKED but all other glass, lenses, trim, bumpers, etc. are in really good condition
9). two complete front hood ornament assy's and a half dozen MB emblems, chrome center caps, etc. This was a two-owner (1 family) car that spent some time in California where I assume these things are routinely stolen...

I've already cancelled my collision insurance on both the '88 & '91 and am seriously considering getting rid of the uninsured motorist PD coverage since they won't give me a valuation vis-a-vis what their "total lo$$" threshold w/b for my cars.

$800

CHEERS!

1983 300 sd

I bought this car a month ago for 1500, since then I have purchased another 400 dollars for parts that will be going into it. Don't know yet if it was a good deal. I have changed the oil, both fuel filters. The alta has been untouched.

This is my first diesel and have been wanting one for a while. Friends and co workers have asked how much did I buy it for and when I tell them, they ask to see the reciept.

I don't know the history of the car as I bought it from a dielership. I was just looking for something to hold me over for the next year or so. My sister is having a hard time so I let her borrow my toyota matrix till they get back on their feet. I saw this car on craigslist. He wanted 2000 but I offered him 15 and he took it.

All windows work, had to close the sunroof manually which was no big deal. Radio does not work but I have an extra one to throw in. I had to put a new drivers seat switch in. The AC works which is a plus here in Arizona.

I paid $3500 for a near mint 420SEL with 207k on it. Interior is perfect, paint is a 8.5/10. Everything works, ride is well.

Sadly, had to dump $2k into it, chain needed done, a/c comp died, and radiator went out.

Worth it as its completely rust free.

$6700 for 96 C36 purchased 5/2010 with 134K miles, mismatched tires, sitting on H+R Springs and blown factory AMG shocks.

Of course, in my haste I didn't notice the paint crazing on the hood and fenders, or the struts knocking after driving for an hour or so, or the slightly erratic idle due to failing MAF.

I had experience with one other C36 which started and behaved the same way so I figured it was normal.

Luckily I had several things going for me:

1)- I have friends who do paint and body- so cheep to fix.

2)- I can DIY

3)-I have no qualms spending $$$ to restore.

So, a new paintjob + bodywork, new struts, new stereo, matching tires, new 02 Sensor, new OVP relay, tranny + radiator flush, CPS sensor, MAF, plugs, thermostat, cleaning up and redoing the PO's work (he thought he was a DIY guy like he saw on TV- complete bonehead) and filters I have a fully maintained car.

With the exception of non functional heated seats and a slightly weeping rear main the car essentially looks and drives like new.

I obviously have more $$$ into it than the car is worth but finding one in the condition my car is in not really easy being 15 years old. Not a ding, not even a nick on the wheels.
